Tennis Bag Types : Junior Bags & Backpacks

When starting your child off in a new sport, it's important to make sure they have the correct gear.

For tennis, your child will need a racquet, bag, balls, and tennis court approved tennis shoes.

Just like backpacks for school, children require different size tennis racquet bags to accommodate their smaller racquets and ensure that they are able to carry their equipment comfortably.

Junior tennis racquets come in sizes ranging from 17 inches to 26 inches, whereas adult racquets come in a standard 27 inches to 29 inches.

A junior racquet will not fit in a standard sized bag, and visa versa. Junior tennis bags are lightweight and come with racquet compartments specifically designed to fit their smaller racquets. They also feature padded shoulder straps for extra comfort, water bottle pockets and plenty of room for a snack, a change of clothes, and a towel; and anything else they may need for a great day on the tennis court.

Juniors tennis bags come in both backpack styles or the more traditional shoulder strap style bags.

We recommend that younger children use a backpack style bag to make it easier to carry one or two racquets.

Your child will likely graduate to the shoulder strap style bag as they approach age 12 and are ready for a standard size tennis racquet, or as their skill progresses and they wish to have multiple racquets at their disposal.
