Summer Tennis Racquet Releases You Need to Know About

Racquet season never really stops, between fresh paint jobs, tech refreshes, and pro-endorsed frames, there's always something new landing on shelves. Three releases in particular have players talking right now: Babolat's head-turning Pure Drive Spectra Edition, the coffee-toned Yonex EZONE Espresso Brown collection, and the HEAD Gravity line that Alexander Zverev has made his own. Here's what's actually new about each one, and who should care.

Babolat Pure Drive Spectra Edition: A Cosmetic Showstopper

The Pure Drive has long been one of tennis's best-selling frames, prized for its blend of power and control that suits everyone from ambitious 3.5s to touring pros. For 2026, Babolat gave it a limited-edition finish that's less about performance tweaks and more about pure visual impact.

What's new:

  • Iridescent, prismatic paint job — instead of Babolat's familiar metallic blue, the Spectra frame shifts between deep purple, electric blue, gold, and pink depending on the light. The look is meant to evoke neon city nightlife rather than a traditional court aesthetic.
  • Same proven Gen11 platform underneath — this is a cosmetic edition only. You still get the Gen11's core technology, including the NF2-Tech 2.0 flax-fiber dampening system that Babolat uses to soften vibration without deadening feel.
  • Full collection rollout — the Spectra treatment extends beyond the racquet itself to a matching bag and the Jet Mach 4 tennis shoe, so players can coordinate the whole kit.

Who it's for: Anyone who already loves the Pure Drive's easy power and forgiving sweet spot and wants a frame that stands out in a sea of matte black and navy racquets. Because the performance specs mirror the standard Gen11, it's a strong pick for intermediate-to-advanced all-court players who want pop, depth, and control off both wings without a steep learning curve.

This racquet is available now at Do It Tennis.

Yonex EZONE Espresso Brown: A Bold Departure From the Usual Palette

Yonex's EZONE series is known for producing racquets that are genuinely comfortable and easy to swing fast, and the brand's new Espresso Brown edition proves you don't need a neon color to make a statement.

What's new:

  • Deep brown base with vibrant orange accents — a rare choice in a market dominated by blues, reds, blacks, and silvers. Yonex describes the pairing as evoking earth, stability, and sophistication balanced against energetic movement.
  • Cosmetic refresh, not a redesign — like the Babolat Spectra, this is a color update across the existing EZONE 98, 100, 105, and other models in the lineup. If you already play an EZONE, the on-court performance doesn't change.
  • Broad availability across the range — the Espresso Brown treatment spans multiple head sizes and weights, from the control-oriented 98 up through the more forgiving 105, plus lighter Alpha and Ace models aimed at improving players.

Who it's for: EZONE loyalists who want a fresh look without switching frames, and any player drawn to a more understated, premium aesthetic than the typical tour-bright colorways. Because the update runs across the whole EZONE family, it works for everyone from juniors and rec players (Ace, Alpha models) up to advanced competitors (98, 100).

These racquets will be available for pre-order on August 5th and will ship August 21st.

HEAD Gravity Tour & MP Zverev LTD: A Cosmetic Tribute to Zverev

Like the other two releases in this roundup, the HEAD Gravity Zverev LTD is mostly a cosmetic story — a limited-edition paint job on an already-established frame, this time with Alexander Zverev's name and personal touches attached. HEAD has launched two versions, the Gravity Tour Zverev LTD and Gravity MP Zverev LTD, both available for preorder now and shipping August 20th.

Is it new tech or a new mold? No — it's the same platform as the standard Gravity line, dressed up for Zverev. The Tour and MP LTD racquets use the exact same molds, string patterns, and technology as HEAD's regular Gravity Tour and Gravity MP. Nothing about how these racquets play is different from what's already on shelves:

  • Two-tone flip design with gold accents — the headline change. HEAD describes the cosmetic as capturing "his two sides of New York: refined elegance and electric energy," with gold accents pulled from Zverev's three signature necklaces. Photos show the two-tone effect can read as darker and lighter tones shifting into one another depending on the angle and light — the same flip-design finish HEAD uses across the Gravity range, just with Zverev's specific color story.

  • Identical molds to the standard Gravity Tour and MP — the Gravity Tour Zverev LTD uses the same 98 sq. in. head and 16x19 pattern as the regular Gravity Tour, and the Gravity MP Zverev LTD uses the same 100 sq. in., 16x20 mold as the regular Gravity MP. Neither head size is new or LTD-exclusive.

  • Identical technology to the standard line — Auxetic 2.0, Half Cap construction, and Graphene reinforcement are unchanged from the regular Gravity Tour and MP. There's no new tech here.

  • What actually makes it "limited" — the cosmetic itself, the Zverev branding, and a limited production run. Pricing matches the standard racquets at $269, sold unstrung, strung, or as a hybrid setup.

The Zverev connection: HEAD is marketing these as co-created with Zverev, which mainly shows up in the color story and the personal touches (the necklace-inspired gold accents) rather than in anything structural. Andrey Rublev remains the other headline Gravity endorser, though this particular cosmetic is Zverev's alone.

Who it's for: Anyone who already plays or wants the latest model of the Gravity Tour or Gravity MP and Zverev's specific look.

Final Thoughts

All three of this summer's most-talked-about releases turn out to be the same basic story: a striking new cosmetic layered onto a frame players already trust, with no change to how the racquet actually plays. The Pure Drive Spectra Edition and EZONE Espresso Brown lean into bold color; the Gravity Tour and MP Zverev LTD lean into Zverev's personal branding, right down to the gold accents inspired by his necklaces. None of the three is a new mold or a new technology — so pick based on which look (and which player) speaks to you, and expect the on-court performance to match the racquet you already know.
