Preparation and repair products

Cp-761 Court Primer, Novabond, Novasurface, Novaplay base coat, Novacaulk and Novalevel are all products used in the initial preparatory stages of surfacing or resurfacing your court. Different procedures are recommended for new concrete slabs versus resurfaced slabs and reading the directions provided with your product is vital to a clean and smooth looking final product.

Novabond and the Cp-761 court primer are interchangeable methods of base coating, however the Novabond acts as a concrete laminator and will even out cracks and low points (birdbaths), eliminating additional steps that must be taken if you choose to use Cp-761 Concrete Primer. Novasurface is the asphalt primer which will seal and smooth out the asphalt layer and act as a bonding agent for subsequent layers. Novaplay base coat is a heavier duty version of Novasurface. This reinforced acrylic resurfacer is ideal in the highest traffic areas. The elastic properties of Novacaulk #1 and #2, when used in conjunction, not only repair cracks in the pavement, but create a fibrous bond with the walls of the crack. This allows for seal movement and flexibility. Novalevel is an acrylic paste meant to be applied in small amounts for minor corrections, such as minor cracks and gouges in the tennis court surface.

Topcoats and optional cusioning

Novafil, Novacoat, Novacrylic combination surface, Novacushion and Ultracushion products are all the upper layers of the court surfacing and the combination of any of these will result in a different looking and different playing court.

Novafil is the sand-filled acrylic textured coating that has been designed for use on all weather courts. The low-abrasion, non-slip texture is easier on tennis balls and safer for players. The calculated reduction in acrylic abrasion has been proved to reduce injuries such as shin splints and “monkey muscle.” The Novacoat top layer is 100 percent acrylic and formulated with the highest quality color pigments and binders to ensure a long-lasting, non-fading court surface. The Novacrylic Combination Surface is a highly efficient, factory-mixed blend of Novacoat and Novafil. The optional Novacushion acrylic/rubber coating is applied in layers and absorbs impact between the tennis shoe and the hard court surface. The Ultracushion layer is another shock-absorbing layer that can be used on both indoor and outdoor courts. Ultracushion layers are recommended for courts frequented by older players.
