How To Replace a Tennis Net Headband

Replacing a tennis net headband can increase the life of your tennis net and save you hundreds of dollars.

Tennis Net Headband Replacement - Follow these simple instructions to replace your tennis net headband.

1. Cut off two short pieces of lacing twine and use them to secure each end of replacement headband to posts. Note that it is not necessary to remove old binding from the net.

2. With the remainder of cord, begin lacing headband to the net, beginning with the second eyelet from the end and continuing to the opposite end. Make sure you keep the lacing cord pulled tightly as you lace.

There are vinyl and polyester tennis net headbands and a good headband is double or quadruple locked stitched for reinforced durability.

The difference between polyester duck and vinyl headbands is a personal choice, but polyester is recommended for hard courts, because of abrasion resistance whereas vinyl is recommended for soft courts, because it is easier to clean. Another advantage to using a polyester duck headband versus a vinyl tennis net headband is that polyester absorbs more energy should a ball hit it, where the ball can skid wildly off of a vinyl headband.

Purchasing the correct replacement tennis net headband is as important as installing it properly. The condition of your tennis net greatly affects the overall appearance of your court, and with a little TLC, you can have a great looking and well-loved tennis court.
