Give Them the Gift They Want the Most
December 3rd, 2015 by Do It Tennis
With the biggest shopping weekend of the year behind us, and over $10 billion spent on Black Friday alone, we would like to explore a list of less conventional gift ideas. These gifts do require thought and planning, and they don't quite fit under The Tree, but they are sure to make memories that will last through next year, and beyond!
A Parent's Love:
Homemade coupon books that your child can cash in with different lengths of playtime on the tennis court just might show you just how much time your kiddo wants to spend with you and their tennis racquet. If you have the ability, you can draw a mini US Open court in chalk like this parent did. But, if you don't have that kind of space, playing tennis on any old wall will do. Grab two racquets and some tennis balls, run outside and start swinging. You should be prepared for lots of laughter, and maybe a few stray hits. Remember, the point is to share memories with your child that they will take with them to practice, into a match ... or even to the US Open.
Couples Who Play Together...
Whether you have a new spark in your life or you have been keeping one alive for years, sharing tennis with your partner is a great way to get the blood pumping and the endorphins racing. If your partner doesn't play, pick out a cheap beginner racquet and get them started. Here is a wonderful blog with some tips for keeping a casual tennis game light and fun. The point of a tennis date is to bond, not to worry about how many times you have to chase the ball into the other court. If your partner already plays, check out tennis.meetup.com and find some other couples to match up against.
Plan a Tennis Getaway:
If you and your partner already bond on the tennis courts, then you both know the love of the sport. Make this year memorable by planning a romantic tennis getaway to a Pro Tournament. The 2016 USTA Pro Schedule is already available online; book now and get early-bird discounts on airfare! As for something to put under the tree, this Jumbo Wilson Tennis Ball would be a fun way to announce a gift this big.
Get creative this year and let us know how it went!
