Asics Men’s Gel Solution Speed 2 Tennis Shoe Review
Submerge your foot into the new
Asics Gel Solution Speed tennis shoe and experience one of the lightest and most comfortable tennis shoes on the market. This highly anticipated shoe was voted best game day
tennis shoe by Tennis Magazine and will leave your feet feeling stable and speedy.
The Solution Speed 2 is one of the most comfortable
Asics tennis shoes and has a plush cushion. Compared to the previous model, the Solution Speed 2’s are slightly wider, but still shouldn't pose a problem with the fit. They are also true to size in length and the arches are low to medium which may be more suitable for the tennis player with a lower arch. The uppers on this shoe is extremely soft and needs no break in, they are essentially ready to wear out of the box. The upper is flexible and won’t cause rubbing against your foot. The upper of this tennis shoe has a form fitting flexion fit as well as Asics high abrasion resistant rubber also known as AHAR wrapped around the toe for added durability. This wrap adds only a decent amount of durability on the toe; if you are a big toe dragger while you play you may be wearing through these quite quickly.
The inside of the Asics Gel Solution Speed 2 tennis shoe has a plush memory foam lined heel collar. This makes the heel feel as though it is custom fit to your foot and really stays secure on your heel. The breathability and ventilation is a positive in this tennis shoe as your feet won’t feel sweaty and hot.
The midsoles have a Solyte material but still provide long lasting cushioning. They lightened up the midsole on this model altogether making them lighter than the previous Solution Speed. There is also effective torsional support as well as lateral support on the Gel Solution Speed 2 tennis shoes. It surpasses the stability that was in the previous model.
Another high point on this shoe is its outsole. The
Asics Gel Solution Speed uses a high abrasion resistant rubber on the outsole that also has a herringbone pattern for traction. You can trust this shoe on multiple surfaces.
For a lightweight tennis shoe at 12.8 ounces, it holds up surprisingly well but I would say the traction isn’t all that up to par as the rest of the shoe is. It did create some slippage on the tennis court, so the grip was only decent. The appearance looks sleek and non-bulky. The upper gives it a unique look and the pops of yellow and red tie in nicely together.
Another thing I like about this new Asics Solution speed 2 tennis shoe is the price point at $119.95 which is reasonable for all the amenities you get from it.
