K-Swiss Bigshot Light 4 Tennis Shoes

  • |

K-Swiss tennis shoes have been an innovation in tennis footwear since 1966. The K-Swiss Classic, which was the first all-leather tennis shoe, first appeared at the Wimbledon Tournament that same year. To this day, the company continues to produce quality tennis footwear with the introduction of the Bigshot, the latest in a lengthy history of K-Swiss tennis shoes that use advanced technology to give tennis players the best response and feel possible.

The Bigshot can best be described in one word, lightweight. This gives you the ability to perform at a higher level with greater maneuverability to get to those tougher shots. Lightness does not come however, at the expense of comfort or feel as the shoe has numerous features that make it last longer and protect feet from shock and vibration.

The midsole uses Superfoam throughout the length of the shoe to provide cushioning. For stablity and support the Guideglide component is also included. The propulsion plate is consistent with the shoe’s overall design of being more maneuverable as it helps you keep weight distributed on the balls of your feet. While much of the shoe’s comfort oriented features come from the midsole, there are other ways to provide foot comfort and other areas of the shoe designed to do this task.

In the upper, comfort comes in the form of a shoe that ‘breathes’, where internal heat is reduced by features that provide ventilation to keep feet cool and dry. The combination of a perforated leather upper and synthetic mesh material in the tongue allow heat to escape better, thus reducing moisture from perspiration.

None of these features do much good if the shoe falls apart after only a brief period of use. The area where breakdown is most likely is in the outsole from friction damage since this area is constantly rubbing against the court surface. The high quality Aosta 7.0 outsole is designed to last long and comes with a six month guarantee.

Although well established, K-Swiss is a relatively quiet company that doesn’t do a lot of advertising. They keep things pretty simple by making quality tennis footwear and letting their success speak for itself. It’s served them well for over 45 years and should continue to do so for years to come.
